India – Namibia relations are traditionally close, warm and friendly, characterised by active bilateral cooperation. There is broad potential for cooperation between both countries, particularly in Information Communication Technology and their shared desire to translate this potential into concrete measures.

India & Namibia MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between India & Namibia for the creation & operation of India Namibia Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (INCEIT) for training in specialised areas of Information Technology. The government of India initiated a proposal for the setting up of CEIT with the intend of having international outreach for imparting ICT education in Namibia. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) signed an Agreement on July 16th 2018 for the setting up of an India Namibia Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (INCEIT) at Namibia University of Science & Technology.

The India–Namibia Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (INCEIT) is a Centre of Excellence hosted within the Faculty of Computing and Informatics at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).  INCEIT’s core focus areas include advance computing specializations including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, High-Performance Computing (HPC), Cybersecurity, Cloud Technologies, Web Technologies, and other emerging computing technologies.

 

Vision: To be a leading Centre of Excellence that advances digital transformation through professional training, applied research, innovation, and strategic partnerships.

 

Mission: A responsive centre of excellence in digital technologies through education, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

IT infrastructure

The India Namibia Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (INCEIT) is equipped with state-of-the-art IT infrastructure. It boasts two fully functional training labs with modern facilities.

PARAM Supercomputer

The Centre is additionally equipped with a CDAC PARAM Supercomputer with High Performance Computing (HPC) Applications. The facility will boost current research on High Performance computing.

Latest Courseware

The INCEIT offers Council approved Certificate Programmes accredited at NQF Level 7, with the latest courseware for the training of Graduates, Government officials and Working Professionals.

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is a scientific society of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India specifically carrying out R&D in IT, Electronics & associated areas. C-DAC has defined the common methodology towards building the concept of a premier R&D organisation and identified opportunities for establishing linkages across disciplines, to create a broad portfolio of technologies under one umbrella. This portfolio envisages a range of technologies such as High Performance Computing including Scientific Modeling and Visualization, Multilingual Computing, Applied Artificial Intelligence and Speech Processing, Software including Multimedia, Graphics and Database Technologies, Power Electronics and Agri-electronics, Embedded Systems and VLSI Design, Health Informatics, Geomatics, Cyber Security, Digital / Broadband and Wireless Networks, e-Governance and ICT for Digital Divide and Education & Training including e-Learning.
